A free lance designer and visual artist based in Galena, IL, Jan was a co-founder of Main Street Players Theatre Company in 1986 and served as their resident scenic and lighting designer through 1995.  His extensive design work in the Tri-State area includes productions for the University of Wisconsin at Platteville and the University of Dubuque. Other projects include the Zion, IL, Passion Play, three shows for Evanston’s Light Opera Works and numerous productions for the Grand Opera House in Dubuque, IA.

As a scenic and lighting designer, my goal is to be expressive without being overbearing  –  to make the production visually interesting, while remaining true to the intentions of the playwright and the interpretation of the director and the design team.
